Life is not fair.

I just found out that Ms. Kribbs has ALS. I didn't know what that was, so I looked it up. It sounds absolutely horrible. She was one of my favourite teachers.

Are you sure she has it?There are other people in OUR town that have it, you should not go around assuming she has it. Even if she has TOLD YOU PERSONALLY you should not be spreading that around. It is a terrible thing to have, it needs to be kept PRIVATE, not plastered on the internet for the world to see.

Since the students were told and the information was relayed to me, it would seem that it's definately not "a secret". I know nothing of how she is doing or what she's doing right now, so I'm not going to make any assumptions. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong by letting others who were taught by her, and hoping that they'll keep her in her toughts.

I'm sure that there are plenty of other people who also have this, and if they're in our town, maybe I know them. But they haven't said anything to me, or announced it, or whatever, so I'm not saying anything either. I am not spreading rumors.

Just like her family, mine is going through a smiliar experience. When my mom got sick, my first thought was to keep it a secret. We talked about it, and then my family talked about it, and we all realized that being sick isn't a secret. There is no shame in it. People who know her will realize that something is changing and they'll figure it out anyway.

I don't see anything wrong with what I'm doing. My goal was to get my friends who also had her as a teacher to keep her in their thoughts. If I'm contacted and told that it is supposed to be kept on the down-low, then I'll do that. But for now, I can see that the students have been told, so I don't see the harm.
